The Minnesota Statutory Homeowners Act provides the following statutory warranties to purchases of new homes:
- A one-year warranty against defects caused by faulty workmanship and defective materials due to noncompliance with building standards.
- A two-year warranty from defects caused by faulty installation of plumbing, electrical, heating and cooling systems; and
- A 10-year warranty from major construction defects in the "dwelling," which is defined elsewhere as "a new building, not previously occupied, constructed for the purpose of habitation."
